Liability & personal safety
Cleveland Tennis is a free, volunteer-run community group. We are not a business, club, or formal organization, and our volunteers are not professional staff. By attending any Cleveland Tennis meetup, social, or tournament, you acknowledge that you participate entirely at your own risk.
Tennis is a physical activity that carries an inherent risk of injury. You are solely responsible for assessing your own fitness to play, for your personal safety, and for your belongings at every event. Cleveland Tennis, its volunteers, and its hosts accept no liability for injuries, accidents, losses, or damages of any kind arising from your participation.
Public court conditions & limitations
Our events take place on free public courts across Cleveland. These facilities are owned and maintained by cities and park districts—not by us—which means:
- Facility issues: Court surfaces, nets, fencing, and lighting are maintained by the municipality. We cannot guarantee their condition, and playing on them is at your own discretion.
- Court availability: Public courts are first-come, first-served. An event may need to relocate, shorten, or adjust format if courts are occupied or unplayable.
- Emergency equipment: Public courts typically have no first-aid supplies, AEDs, or on-site staff. Bring anything you may personally need, and call 911 in an emergency.
Code of conduct & reporting
Everyone is welcome at Cleveland Tennis, and we expect every participant to help keep it that way. Be respectful and courteous to fellow players, share court time generously across skill levels, and follow posted facility rules. Harassment, discrimination, unsafe behavior, or repeated no-shows may result in removal from events and the group. If you experience or witness behavior that concerns you, please report it to a moderator through the Facebook group so we can address it promptly.
